Grandma, Are We Rich?

The illustrated story that begins Bella and Grandma's conversation.

starts a much bigger conversation.
Every time Bella visits, Grandma is already waiting. One winter evening they set out together, down snowy New Jersey streets, past homes glowing softly in the dark, when Bella stops and looks up. "Grandma, are we rich?"
Bella means money. Grandma has a bigger answer. On their walk home, Grandma tells Bella about family, giving, coming to America at fifteen with two suitcases and not a word of English — and the things that made her feel rich long before she had much at all. By the time they reach home, Bella sees her question differently.
The first book in the Grandma, Are We Rich? series. Coming next: Grandma, Is Grandpa Rich?
"Grandma, are we rich?"
What makes a family truly rich?
Color, save, spend, give, solve, create, and remember.

A few pages from Bella and Grandma's evening walk.
For grandparents and grandchildren, for parents, for educators looking for something a child can carry with them, and for anyone who believes the richest moments come when we slow down and walk together.
The Activity & Coloring Workbook picks up where the story leaves off. There are pages to color, choices to make about saving, spending, and giving, and room to wonder what "rich" really means.
Color scenes from Bella and Grandma's walk. Make save, spend and give choices. Sort needs from wants. Set a savings goal. Work through puzzles and simple math. Turn to pages about kindness, gratitude, and the memories a family makes together.
Some pages ask children to think. Some ask them to count or make a choice. Others simply give them room to color and create. Together, they give the story somewhere else to go.
It comes two ways: a paperback on Amazon, and a printable you download and print at home from Etsy.

I'm Regina. I spent my working life around numbers and people — as a financial analyst, in operations and management, as an educator, a product leader, and a consultant. I know money and spreadsheets. I also know they aren't what makes a life rich.
I wrote this book for my grandchildren, and for every child I may never meet, so they would have something lasting to keep: a story simple enough for a child, and true enough to stay with them.
What does it mean to have enough? What should we save for? What is worth giving? What do we inherit from our families besides money? What makes us feel rich?
These are the questions I have carried as a mother and a grandmother. Grandma, Are We Rich? grew out of them. I wanted to create the kind of story a child can understand today, carry with them, and find new meaning in as they grow.

Buy the Book on AmazonMy mother, Maya, told me my first stories. In her last years, dementia carried most of them away, and I would give anything to have them back. She was my mother, my friend, my confidant. Life was busy, and I never wrote her stories down. I wish, more than I can say, that I had.
Sitting beside her taught me that a person is so much more than an illness. In her memory, I create gentle activities and printables for the families and caregivers who sit where I sat — helping them hold onto the person behind the diagnosis, make room for connection, and preserve the stories that matter.
